Having won the Inaugural GCCF awards for most popular club and most popular show in
2014 we were not eligible for the awards this year but our standards didn’t slip.
Our once a month jumble sales held at St Bernadette’s again proved successful. I must thank
our many helpers Vi & Tony Lawrence, Beryl Bisson, Lesley L’Enfant, Sue Lewis, Madeleine
Silvester, Eileen Smith, June Brown, Brenda Swann, Stella Auger, Darren & Emma Mccue,
Paul & Suzie Williams, Marion De Gruchy, Janice Patterson, Claire & Derek Jepson and a
special thank you to John De Gruchy.
As usual our cat show was held in April at the RJH&A society show hall. Setting up the show
commenced on Thursday evening under the direction of show hall manager Darren McCue.
This was completed early on Friday afternoon, the Show hall looked great and all workers
deserve praise for their hard work.
Claire Jepson provided sandwiches etc on the Friday for the show helpers.
On the show day New Era Veterinary hospital conducted the vetting in and Charlie Gruchy
was duty Vet.
Prior to judging Charlie gave a moving speech about the premature death of Hugh Forshaw
followed by a minuets silence in his memory.
The Show ran smoothly, and our thanks are due to our show managers John & Elaine
Robinson, for running an excellent friendly show.
Judges, stewards and helpers were again provided with a magnificent lunch organised by
Eileen Smith, well done to her and the other helpers.
There was a great raffle with many good prizes. As usual Madeleine Sylvester organised it
The Club was lucky to get hold of Cas & Paul Irwin who stepped in at the last moment to run
the cafeteria very well and our thanks are due to the other helpers.
Our stall holders appeared to do quite well though the Club stall was the exception, we do
need to encourage more to have stalls.
The Club was pleased to have Mrs Therese Forshaw as a guest and she presented the
awards for the 3 classes the Club put on in memory of Hugh,on a personal note we were
delighted that one of our cats Grand Premier Chandisse Carlotta won one of the classes.
Hugh is greatly missed by everyone and the Club made a donation in memory of Hugh to 2
of his favourite charities.
The Club thanks its sponsors Royal Canin, Marcel Guibout, The Pet Cabin, Le Marquand
Brothers and Howard Law for their invaluable support.
Our table workers worked hard during a busy day and the Show closed on time.
An army of helpers cleared the Show hall in record time .
As usual we had our after show dinner at the Hotel Ambassadeur who again provided an
excellent meal and I am sure all those attending had an excellent time, As usual there was a
great Raffle with plenty of good prizes, Emma Mccue and Sue Lewis ran the Raffle.
My thanks are due to the committee for their work during the year, I would like to place on
record my thanks to Claire Jepson who is a very efficient secretary and Diane Olafsson for
keeping the Club books immaculately. Thanks to Darren Mccue for auditing the books.
During the year the Club welcomed Lesley L’Enfant and Paul& Suzie Williams on to the
committee and they are very useful additions.
Another change during the year was that Emma Mccue retired as the Club’s GCCF delegate
and Helen Mariott Powers took her place.
As for next year we must endeavour to get more Show entries and encourage more people
to become Club members.
Thanks to all,
